3 Cylinder Diesel
well I got my hands on a good running Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel. im thinking about doing a hydraulic drive system in a cart (pump off of the engine and then hydraulic motor attached to the rear end).
I was thinking about seeing if it will fit in my TD. Then fabbing up a dump body operated by a piston, I think it would make the coolest farm work horse. but the TD works fine now and I would hate to tear up a little classic. Or go with a rolling chassis of some kind, but looking at my G9 its probably not going to fit in a regular golf cart. here is the motor, it already has the exhaust, starter, water pump, fuel solenoid, injection pump, ect. I just have to mount it and wire it and plum it to run. the TD looking for some input or ideas for a project! Thanks guys! |

Re: 3 Cylinder Diesel
If you use the hydraulic motors, you will be VERY limited on speed. That motor should be a torque-monster. Why not use the stock clutch setup?

Re: 3 Cylinder Diesel
I don't think I can use the stock clutch cause im probably not gonna have enough RPM's?

Re: 3 Cylinder Diesel
What's the max RPM on the motor? The clutches are somewhat adjustable. Maybe a 1.5:1 jackshaft?

It will fit and work great, here's a Kubota I installed in a Club Car for a customer. It runs plenty fast enough and has lots of pull.

Re: 3 Cylinder Diesel
cool it does fit in a cart. I may go with a rolling chassis or electric cart then
how did you mount the primary drive to the motor? did you use some sort of a jack shaft also? |
