Building my own stretch limo seat pod.
I am thinking of building my own front seat pod with fiberglass. Not sure where to begin but here is my idea.. I have some Styrofoam block that I can sand and shape to the size and style of all the other seat pods. My question would be is how many layers of fabric would be needed to make it sturdy. Hopefully I can figure this out and I can post a step by step of how to make your own limo seat pod. Thanks everyone for your help.

I would think that a frame will be needed for strenth, not the fiberglass. My G-20 uses a 3/4 by 3/4 square tube but you could use about anything.

Re: Building my own stretch limo seat pod.
You may be able to make the seat strong enough with a lot of layers of fiberglass. When a boat is built the company sometimes will add a honeycomb type material for rigidity. Otherwise you would have to put quite a few layers of fiberglass. Sometimes that makes the fiberglass rigid, which may lead to cracking. Lots of layers will also make the seat heavy. I'm thinking a frame with a thin fiberglass skin would be a better idea, unless you can get your hands on some kevlar. We can get some here in south florida, but it's expensive and can be more difficult to work with.

It's easier to get an extra body, and cut it, and make your own seat pod, easier and cheaper than making one

Thanks for all you help. I already had a extra rear body to make one with but I still kind of like that pod look and was looking for a cheap way to get one but it seems like the material alone will add up to a bunch of money.

As I recall, Ezgo pods are all fiberglass, with a unique desighn for strength. Heck, the build cars from foam and clay. If you have the foam.....go for it

Audio shops have been making speaker enclosure like that for years. Maybe get with a local shop for help or ideas. You tube is great for video help. Hope this helps you!! Good luck. One more thing, you may have more money into it doing it this way but you can make a (one off) pod that you can be proud of! |

Go buy them while it lasts, they seem to be hard to find at a decent price. |
