MY Shocks, ANY Shocks: The angle vs. the dangle
I'm putting a lift on my Hyundia 8 1/2 lift, 4' out, with a 3" stretch, and am trying to figure out which is better as far as the angle of the stock, coil over front shocks .......... This is a simple question about suspension ...... NOT about the Hyundai cart, okay? Cool ..... Forget that its a Hyundai ...... She's now a "Mongrel".
I'm having to add upper shock mounts and that part isn't an issue ......... This is: When you reposition the front shocks ...... On ANY shock, which is the better plan? #1 To leave the angle of the shocks pretty much the same as in straight up and down .... vertical manner, or #2 Put them an on about a '65 degree angle? For what I have and not wanting to replace shocks immediately Do and will they(the shocks) stiffen-up the more you roll them diagonally? I'm not sure of how shocks work, and how the act or react to different angles. .......... so if someone has some actual new-world input, I'd like to hear it. |

Re: MY Shocks, ANY Shocks: The angle vs. the dangle
Boris, Welcome to BGW.
Laying a spring over increases the spring rate. Layin a shock over decreases the shock rate and increases the suspention travel. Suggest going to a book store and pick up a book on setting up a race car suspension. The formulas are worth their weight in gold to tune in a suspension correctly. OR... PM one of the other members here and ask them what the used and how it turned out for them. Pics are always helpful. Good luck. |

boris-
i don't know about all of the shock stuff, but i confident in telling you the angle of the dangle is directly proportionate to the heat of the meat |

Salty...
So what you're saying is: If the angle of the dangle and the heat of the meat don't match the stroke of the poke, you could wind up in a world of sh**! |
