ok behind the rear oil plug that blew out today is what looks like a heavy red wire that someone snipped off sticking straight out of the base, was this an oil sending unit or something ??

You might want to help them narrow it down a bit? What year, what engine did it fly out of? Pictures?

I'm not sure if this'll help....

But the plug that came out of the back of the engine... Do you still have it?

I was just going through my parts book, and it looks like the oil sensor cord connector (#13)
which connects your sensor inside your engine to the wiring harness outside your engine.

I don't exactly know where the red wire your talking about, is, or where it goes to,
but, here's a pic that may help you get started!

It is # 13, is there supposed to be a wire comming off it going somewhere ?? This is it it looked like a snipped off wire ???

I still have the plug I cleaned it off and hi temp siliconed it and stuck it back in, it seem to be holding fine ! Think it will be ok ?? I smeared the outside with silicone too.It seemed soft enough

Thank you

Also what holds # 13 in ?? It too looks like a rubber plug that just presses in. Must not be alot of pressure in these motors

No... not alot of crankcase pressure, just don't pull the dipstick when the engine is running...
you'll have a mess... AGAIN!

It looks like it is just pressed in... #14 is an O ring,

I can't seem to find the wiring harness pic for it... I'll try to find something for you, but, so far nothing!

I'd suggest trying to find a wire just laying around, or close to the engine, that may match the one you have!

I'll keep looking!

a little more info on this "red wire", please!
(is it on top of the plug? laying in the engine pan? etc...)

It's a bullet connector for the jumper wire!
