You might check with DR Racing, link below. Seems i read in one of the go-kart forums that the gx-390 and the gx620 have the same springs and rocker arms, of course you need to verify info.

The gx620 uses the same springs and guide plates. Just order 4. Not sure on pushrod length. I always used the OEM because I'd rather have a cheap pushrod fail than the cam.

The GX620 can go to 4500rpm without any mods. Above 5500 even with springs you'll start losing rods at very low hr levels.

Removing the governor completely is difficult, because there is no throttle return on the gx engines. The engine defaults to full throttle and the governor pulls it back down to idle. The stiffness of the governor spring determines the RPM.

I haven't had a governor blow up under 5000rpm.

You can replace the spring with a stiffer one, or replace it entirely with a piece of wire.

Then you are the governor. I don't recommend it. On a gx620 you can just replace the carburetor with a motorcycle type carb as it already uses a single barrel.

Just make a simple adapter.

Stay safe run a stiffer spring and keep it around 4500.

You don't have to change anything other than the governor spring and add a tach.

You'll have more fun and spend less money.

Is there somewhere that sells a stiffer spring or do I need to make one from home depot?

There is a non-sponsor site that does. I'm not aware of any sponsors that do. IF so, chime in.

Other wise you have to get it from BU Buggies unlimited. same as gx670 spring.

You can also adjust the governor linkage to allow more rpm. Try the spring first.
