Forward reverse shift lever spring?
I have a 1994 gas cc, is there a spring between the f r lever and the body wall. The shaft that the lever fits on keeps sliding back and the reverse micro switch gets caught when it slides back. Seems like it needs a washer/spring/washer to keep the lever/shaft from sliding back?

Re: Forward reverse shift lever spring?
I have a 96 DS and I don't remember a spring in there anywhere when I took the F-N-R switch off to do the body work......
If I remember right the handle and the shaft are indexed so they only go together one way, then there is just a screw that goes in the front of the handle and screws into the shaft to hold the handle to the shaft. I'll try to take a look at mine and see what's what. I can't remember it exactly and I could be misunderstanding what you're asking. |

Re: Forward reverse shift lever spring?
I don't remember if my stock shifter handle had a washer,
But, I know that when I put on my AS sports shifter, I thought it came with a wave (spring) washer just for that purpose! I've since replaced it with a Jake's shifter and I didn't need it. I can't see why a wave washer wouldn't help you in your situation! |

Last set of FnR assemblies I ordered all had a wave washer that went between the handle and the FnR body. The handle will have to be fastened on properly to make it work.

Re: Forward reverse shift lever spring?
Even if it had a washer, why is it moving so far?? washer is only 100ths of a inch thick. Must be something going on there

If I had to guess on the total "thickness" of the wave washer, I'd guess it to be 3/16ths of inch. You can shim it out with whatever you can find, I believe I used a slice of a leaf spring bush sleeve and a washer to protect the mech once.

Re: Forward reverse shift lever spring?
I'm with RSP, I'm suspicious I'm missing a peice or a set screw is loose or something like that I did check it this am but not really closely and the play is only a very small amount but enough to let the metal arm of the microswitch fall off the metal cam.
