Default Club Car Precedent 2006- Speed

I just purchased a 2006 Club Car Precedent. I was told my cart should be set on Level 3. I hooked my GPS up this weekend and according to the GPS my cart runs 14 mph. Does that sound right to be set a level 3?

Yep, that sounds about right. Put some bigger wheels on it and it'll probably show a little faster. Can get around 19-20 with speed code 4 but that's a little more involved than 1, 2, or 3. I haven't had mine changed yet.

$250 for a plum quick motor. It will be the best money you will ever spend on your buggy.

Thanks for the info 03RedClub and BamaDozier. I plan on having the speed code 4 set and have been looking at the plum quick motor. Does it make a difference if I set the speed code to 4 before installing the PQ motor? Do I need to change anything else when I add the PQ motor, like the cables? I'm new to the cart world. Why would bigger wheels increase the speed 03RedClub?

I'm told that bigger wheels give you a little more speed. Haven't experienced myself yet - that's my next mod. I'm sure there's some physics behind it but not sure what it is exactly.

As for the PQ, I'm thinking I read here that you don't need any codes set for it - they aren't needed. But I'm trying to find that out for sure myself. If I were you, I'd hold off on the code set until you know for sure - it may be unnecessary.

Bigger wheels increase RPM because they still turn the same amount of revolutions per minute as your smaller tires did. However, you're going further per revolution because the tire is bigger around. Therefore, you're moving faster.

If you're planning on getting a PQ motor I wouldn't fool with the speed setting. The sensor on a PQ motor only emits half the pulses as a regular motor, therefore doubling the speed capability of any setting you've got. If you're running 14 now, it'll run 28 before it starts to slow itself down once equipped with the PQ motor. Odds are, you'll never reach that kind of speed anyways for the simple fact that the cart isn't powerful enough to achieve it.

Thanks for all the help from everyone. TahoeDawgZ71 do I need to change all the cables from 6 gauge to 4 guage. I'm looking at "The Bandit" PQ Motor. What kind of increase in speed am I looking at with this upgrade?

Not if you don't change the controller. If you upgrade the controller I'd change the wires, if not, I'd leave it. It should work fine. Double check with PQ about it, but I don't think they require it.

Stock controller, (250 amp,) works fine with stock wires.
