Low Voltage Disconnect?
Hi guys, I have a DS that I converted to lithium a few months back and it was working great (1 Chevy volt module). My kids turned the lights and I didn't noticed and it sat for way too long since the weather wasn't for riding before I noticed. Anyways the volt battery became to low in voltage and bulged and I had to get rid of it. I now have 7 leaf modules and would like to know what everyone is doing for low voltage disconnect. I rather have something set up so it doesn't happen again. I currently am running a bms that takes care of over voltage and balancing but no LV solution.

I have a Victron BMV-700 and when it get to the user selectable set point, it will start alarming and flashing.

Re: Low Voltage Disconnect?
Almost all BMSes I have seen have LV cut off. Are you sure it doesn't and that you just need to install a LV relay?

Re: Low Voltage Disconnect?
My ZEVA has both an HV and LV cutoff.
However, this would be another example of why it's a good idea to go with a separate 12-V marine battery to run accessories. FWIW |

But you have to remember to flip that switch. :-)

Re: Low Voltage Disconnect?
You get used to it ... ignition switch off, Fwd/Rev into neutral, battery switch off and get out of cart.
In my case, the battery switch also kills power to the digital volt / amp meter and the LED's on my switch panel so those are visual cues. It is nice to not have to worry about parasite loads. |

Re: Low Voltage Disconnect?
My key switch shuts off the voltage converter so anything running on 12V is off. So even if I forget to turn off the headlights, they are off when the key is off.

Re: Low Voltage Disconnect?
If you have one of the cheap chineese BMSs, you could run your voltage reducer through the load side of the BMS and it would cut off at the low voltage setting.
I have mine wired to the key switch. |
