I think it does to an extent. If you are sitting relatively flat and have your foot off the brake it usually holds in place. I noticed today on my driveway with a very little incline (like 2 degrees tops) that it held for a second then you felt something give and it started rolling backwards. After I checked and had the error again. It’s not terrible but something I’d like to fix before I have to send this programmer back.

Ha, there either is, or there isn't. No extents :) Here is what an EM Brake looks like :

In your case it's probably another Curtis feature called Position Hold. Position Hold also has a configurable timeout, which is what you're describing.

I'm new here. I have 2 of the 140 1239e controllers sold at auction. I've being told by can ev and others they are wiped whatever that means. I know where many of the other controllers are as well. To my knowledge no one has got them working yet. My message is to bob. The famous guru bob. What's most cost effective way to get these controllers to work with the ac 35. They came as a set. I bought 1314 software from forklift site with no dongle. I bought a bunch of the cables featured on this thread but fear they won't work. It's not used on a road ev. It's a tractor. Just need basic operation. No brakes or regen or hold or creep none of that.

Ha, good point. If that’s what they look like I think I might have that on the back wheels. Attaching a pic.

That's a regular disc brake, you can see the mechanical linkage on the left side. EM Brake is typically installed between the motor and the transmission, and will have wires connecting to it to actuate the electro magnet.

Well clearly I have no idea about anything here . I really appreciate the insights you are bringing. Should I ignore the fault because it doesn't matter? How would I fix the Position Hold that seems to have changed and why would it have changed in the first place from the updates I made?

I would check first if EM Brake is enabled. I don't have any theories as to why your changes impacted that.

Here is what I have in the monitor, EM brake and brake menus.

I scrolled back in the thread, don't you have an E-Z-GO RXV ? From Google search it sounds like it has an EM brake. So perhaps the issue is your brake is worn and isn't setting.

It depends upon how "wiped" they really are. If they just erased the previous usage history, then the OS and VCL will be intact. Otherwise, if they totally wiped it, it'll be blank and ready for a compiled OS/VCL file to be written to it. Since it's a late model E, you'll need a late model Curtis 1309 OEM interface to go with your 1314 software.

HPEVS may be able to supply you with their file, but I doubt that they will due to the normally over-restrictive contracts with Curtis. However, if you send them the controllers, they may be willing to reflash them with their brand of OS/VCL file for a price. It's what you'll want anyways for their AC-35 motor.
