Default 1996 3 Wheeler

You read it right. 1996. I thought the last year for the 3 wheelers was 1994 but I guess I was mistaken. I bought this immaculate 3 wheel cart yesterday. Spent it's whole life on a pecan orchard. It has the curtis controller and it clearly has 96 as the year on the manufacturer code. Code indicates that it was made on June 16, 1996. My only guess is that it was either custom ordered or EZGO just put together a cart to get rid of the last of their 3 wheeler parts. Who knows! Frame is not rusted. The only thing I plan on doing is adding lights, windshield, going 48 volts, heavy duty rear springs, and adding a rear seat. The owner had it painted and reupholstered by a body shop and it looks great. Pics attached.

I've never heard of a 96 Marathon. I know in 94 they made both the Marathon and TXT. That's interesting!

I contacted EZGO about it and they ran the serial number through their database and it comes up as a 1994 3 wheel Marathon but was produced July 16, 1996 for whatever reason after discontinuation.. Maybe for a special client who really liked that model. They weren't sure what to tell me but I'm pretty sure this is the last 3 wheeler or even last marathon made.

Wow. It sure does come up as a '94. That's really weird, yet cool that you found that!

That's what I'm thinking. It's going to be a keeper for sure! It has 3 12 volt automotive batteries in it right now from the previous owner and all old 6g cables. When those batts wear out it will be time to throw in 48 volts and this Alltrax 500amp I have sitting here. Already have 400a solenoid and HD F&R and all 2g cables ready. I'm excited about this one

Don't worry, it won't take long for those automotive batteries you wear out!

Little update. Haven't done much but got all the lights installed and a 12v converter, 500 amp Curtis controller and 400amp solenoid, 2awg cables. I have a new set of tires and wheels sitting here that I'll put on it, and a rear seat and it'll be pretty much done. Still at 36v but will go 48 lithium later this year.
