Default How do these things get oil up top.

Hello, This is my first golf cart, I have always been a Yamaha guy, so I figured I couldnt go wrong.. I bought an oil burning super clean cart for a great price, everything worked great. So I removed the engine and did a rebuild, I checked the bore and it was an egg!!! So I took it to work and bored it .25 mm over... Put it all back together and she runs great!!! I am just wanting to understand how they get enough oil to the top end?(rockers) And how much oil should be up there? We have put about an hour of use on it and it runs great, Just want to make sure it is ok. Thanks

I can't speak for the newer ones, but the 285cc has an oil line going up the back of the motor, to the valve cover, where oil is drawn up from the crank case with internal pressures!!

So would it be safe to say that a loose fitting dip stick is not a good thing? It does not puke out any oil, it just does not seem real tight when pushing it into place.. Am I just over thinking this and being paranoid? Thanks for the help...

Yea know, mine was also loose, but I just put a piece of shrink over it and it worked out perfect!! But, yes, any loss will have it not working as efficient as it could!!

Awesome, I will get some shrink tube and just do that.... One more question Family Farm & Home had Amsoil 10/40 Zinc fortified on sale for 5 bucks a quart... Would you run it in your motor?

40 is a bit thick, I think I'd pass for 10/30.
