New meter installed to replace the one I fried

Here are some pics of the new meter I just got done installing. This is a cheapie $1.00 meter + $6.00 shipping off of fleabay from China. If I were you, I would go with the Datel or scotty's meter as those only require 2 wires. This meter required power from an additional 12 volt source. I only put this one in, because I fried the other one during my converter install and my cut-out was already there. I also installed a lighted rocker switch and my power source comes from 2 6 volt batteries taped together and wired in series. I left some room to the right, because I'm putting in a digital thermometer soon. I will power both off that rocker switch.

I could not use my converter to power this meter, that's why I installed the batteries. The batteries should last a very long time, as the meter draws nothing and the rocker switch is led.

When I put the original one on, everyone laughed at me and said it will die in a few weeks. Well, 6 months later, I killed it with too many volts.

I had to wrap rubber tape all over it (backing) to keep any possible moisture off of it, as it's not designed for outdoor use. I just left a small cutout for the adjustment screw, so I can keep it calibrated. I think I had good luck with the other one, because the cart is garage kept.

I'm waiting for my $1.00 digital ambeint thermometer now. I take pics of it when I get it in.

The charger just shutoff when I was taking pics! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I couldn't justify paying $60 for a meter so I too went the cheapie route.
It is self powered and only uses 2 wires like the Datel meter. It is not waterproof but I don't hose down the stereo and other electric components anyway so I thought if it frys I can get another.
It's been in there for a year and I have had no trouble with it.
The beauty of this little meter is that the voltage range is 8v to 60v so I put a toggle switch on it to measure either my pack voltage or my converter voltage and you can't even do that with the Datel meter.
I bought mine for $15 delivered.
