G1 needs some more get up and go...

I know I'm not the first or last to ask this question- I would like to get some more speed out of my cart.

Hope to do the BBQ exhaust method next weekend- looks like an easy fix. Already disconnected the govenor and added a new drive belt. Please post up some other goodies, fat guys want to know.

Where did you get your drive belt?

You need good compression to start with, if the cylinder is worn you will never get good power. Stock engine in good condition you can cut the head and advance the timing. Good idea to work on the clutches or get aftermarket as the G9 type clutch you can't adjust like you could the original G1 clutch if you happen to still have one. You can shim or stretch the spring for more takeoff in those and aftermarket ones. Beyond that you can change carbs to larger, put different pipe on it some use banshee pipe some use others. You can get them ported, you can swap to a bravo sled motor and adapt your ignition pick up on it to keep reverse. Its a 250 but with the pipe will make more power than the G1. I was told you can put a different jug on the G1 from an old yami sled, but I can't verify that. Some of them were up to 400cc.
