4 12V vs 6 8V batteries

I'm looking at a used 2006 DS with the 4 12V battery system. I would prefer the 6 8v system but this seems like a good deal. The cart needs batteries. Is there anything I should be concerned about with the 12V system.

Well its not a 12 volt system, it is a 48 volt system being run on 4 12 volt batteries. If it needs batteries then go ahead and convert to an 6/8 by buying batteries, new cables and reworking the battery bay to hold the 6 pack...

I had that thought as well. A dealer told me that you couldn't convert it to 6 8's. I didn't understand why not. How hard is it to reconfigure the battery bay?
