Default Taylor Dunn B210 test question. ID? Batteries?

Hey folks, I have a Taylor Dunn B210
Where is the ID plate on these things?
The six (6 volt) trojan batteries are totally dead.
How do I hook up three 12V deep cycle batteries to TEST to make sure the motor works?
I want to buy new trojans for it, but Don't want to do that if the cart motor is dead.

I am aware that the power output will be less and discharge will happen faster, but I really want to make sure this thing works before dumping $700 of battery money into it for no good reason.

Thanks
Kevin

Kevin, in order to test motor with 12 volts you have to hook up motor as follows, 12 pos to A1, A2 to F1 (S1), F2 (S2) 12volt neg. Make sure the wheels are OFF the ground then apply voltage for only a brief moment to see if motor rolls. Reverse the pos and neg and the motor should roll the opposite way. Above all else be safe so you can play with your project when it is finished and not need it to get around after you have broken something, like your leg.

WHOOPS, USE ONLY A 12 VOLT SOURCE FOR THIS AS IT WILL BE A LOT SAFER.

As long as you have the armature circuit (A1 and A2) hooked in series to the field windings it really doesn't matter as the motor is designed to run both ways. Remember Pos 12volts to A1, A2 connected to S1 (some manufacturers mark it a F1) and A2 (F2) connected to the negative side of a 12 volt battery it should run, and that is all you are looking for. Just be safe and keep the cart wheels off the ground with jack stands and not bricks or your brother-in-law.

WOW, still confused.
POSITIVE SIDE HAS A1 only yes?
Negative side has A2 jumper wired to S1 (sometimes called F1/F2) and then connected to the negative side of the battery yes?

Just making sure.
thanks

Lemme think, OK... without pos or neg at this point. Motor connection A1 is usually going directly through the brushes to the commutator, that one will, at this point, not have a wire on it. A2 is the end of the armature coming from the brushes, commutator, etc. That will be jumped to the field/ series winding (F1/S1). At this point you should have two connections on the motor without any external connections going to them. These should be A1 and F2/S2.CR*P. I'm starting to confuse myself. Now A1 and F2/S2 will be the points you hook up your 12 volt battery. Just for clarity put the positive on A1 and Briefly touch neg to F2/S2. There will be a small spark (???) and, if it is ok, the motor will turn slowly in one direction. If , at this point you still have eyebrows you can reverse the polarity to make it run the other way. If the lights go out in three counties, take two beers and call me in the morning. Randy

sounds good, I'll let you know how I make out.
I took a pic of my motor, and it does not have any A1/S1, markings.
I'll get that up this eve and send you a pic.

Kevis, if my wiring diagram is telling me the truth,S1 is green, S2 is yellow, A1 is white and A2 is blue. That means that blue and green are jumped together and voltage is applied to yellow and white. Go to www. vintage golf cart parts. com and look at the Taylor-Dunn section of the wiring diagrams just to be sure. Are you able to use a volt/ohm meter? They sure help when you are trouble shooting.
