Default 97 txt body paint

Hi everyone

I am new to this hobby of golf carts and have a couple of questions. I have read the how to paint plastic bodies.

I understand the scuffing
I understand the adhesion promoter
but.....
after applying the promoter can I use this primer and paint with clear coat?

http://www.duplicolor.com/products/psFinishSystem/

I have a air compressor with auto sprayer

I painted a 92 ezgo marathon steel body using the tips from this site and it turned out really nice metallic black but I am a little concern with the plastic body!

thanks

That primer should be just fine to use. Really the only difference between prepping and painting plastic compared to steel is the adhesion promoter step. Unless you have taken the metal all the way down to bare steel "which you would then have to spray an etch primer" the procedure is exactly the same. Happy painting

Is the adhesion promoter needed if the cart was painted already? Do you need the adhesion prmoter on top of paint or just raw plastic?

on the painting plastic body sticky it states to scuff the painted body with red/burgundy soft bright not to sand down to plastic then use adhesion promoter to its instructions for adhesion time to coat

I thought adhesion promoter was to seal raw plastic. If the cart is already painted it should have adhesion promoter, primer, and paint. Wouldnt that be enough to seal the raw plastic? I ask because a shop I am considering to paint my cart is telling me that and it seems to make sense.

You are correct in that if it has already been painted once there is no need for the adhesion promoter. The only thing the promoter does is soften the plastic so the paint adheres properly.
