Smile 93 G9 troubles and the resolutions

Bought a fun junker on Ebay a couple of years ago. It was already raised and had a hand made brush guard with cheesy driving lights. Fun though. I've work on a bunch of things in the past rebuilding a variety of engines.

#1 biggest issue I just resolved due to reading some of the posts on this forum is the oil that spews from the "PCV" hose from the valve cover. Turns out due to the lift that I was getting wrong oil level on the dipstick and had two quarts in it. Drained it and put exactly one quart in and problem solved(still doesn't make sense though). I got rid of the airbox and used one of the K&N filters too.

#2 Not a smooth operation climbing a grade. I really didn't want to tackle that spring on the final drive clutch/ sheave/ whatever. After checking it out closer I found that the sliding pulley had been worn through partially by the belt. Order a torque kit and it wasn't terrible to replace. I had to pick up a pulley puller since I couldn't find mine and a 3 ft crow bar as the instructions I got recommended. Now it pulls great from the start and climbs any hill.

#3 Adjusted the play out of the steering box.

#4 Found this a long time ago, but the little plastic/bakelite spacer between the carb and engine was cracked. Replaced that.

My wife prefers this "Jeepster" to the Mule we have because you just hop on and push the pedal. Now I have it where I don't have to working on it all the time.
