Re: 85 ez go head scratcher
Yes the picture is upside down for some reason. It is on the top. Just like the photos.

Re: 85 ez go head scratcher
I pulled the exhaust off today to verify the piston was installed correctly and it was. However the piston has some major scoring. I took a video of it with my borescope but I don’t think I can upload a video on here. The cylinder walls look ok so I’m wondering if whom ever”rebuilt” the engine reused the old piston. Re-ring the slug and hone the jig and sent it on its way? It has 105 lbs of comp so it should still run correct?

Re: 85 ez go head scratcher
Factory best is 120. Mine was 100 in 2013 and still runs strong every day.
105 is fine. |

Re: 85 ez go head scratcher
Spray some starting fluid around the rear seal to see if it runs any better.
After that, take the carburetor apart for a good cleaning. Especially the hollow brass tube that runs up the center. Do all of the free stuff first to eliminate possibilities. Then throw parts at it. |

Re: 85 ez go head scratcher
Wait wait wait. Somebody else rebuilt this?
I noticed in your picture that the wires are soldered on to the pulsar coil. Maybe they switched them. |

Re: 85 ez go head scratcher
yes someone else rebuilt it. i thought of that also if memory serves the manual says the red wire should be closest to the engine which it is. and the carb is spotless also tried a brand new carb. i guess i could cut the wires and try hooking them up opposite and see what happens. i really am leaning towards a timing issue. as i have said i set the pulse ring according to the book and it wants to run just cant quite get it going. then it loads up with fuel.

Re: 85 ez go head scratcher
You don't have to cut anything. Just make some jumper wires that you can swap around.
