Re: G2 Lifan swap
I used a K&N oval filter with an extra prefilter I constructed. I mounted the K&N on a Vegascarts Mikuni intake manifold to the stock type carb. The yamaha clone swap have VERY limited space between the carb and shock/spring unit on passengers side. Pics of this are on pages 10,13 and 18 on my Vc 460 thread.

Re: G2 Lifan swap
would it be better to have a shorter drive belt or longer or dont matter. have a 47 but have enough room to go with 45. only advantage to my build is placement of the S/G

Re: G2 Lifan swap
No measurable difference between 45 and 47. I used a 47" for years and years with my clone. Similar Yamaha cart too. I had issues with air filter clearance, so the 47" belt got me further away from the frame that was in the way. I also installed a Vtwin in a G9 (same cart) and used a 44" belt on that one. The longer belts will have a little more deflection, but performance doesn't suffer.
For shocks I always used ATV shocks in rear. I've used several types and experimented quite a bit. Are you lifting your cart? |

Re: G2 Lifan swap
IF you are using a S/G the drive belt length is something you really want to think about. The VC set up makes the front oil fill not serviceable without removing the S/G. In fact VC has you trim down the front dip stick cap. This was not acceptable for me. So first off I went to a Dayco XTX2264 belt which measures 42.83 X 1.27 "s. This puts the engine close enough to the transaxle that the governor arm needs to be removed. Another benefit this wider belt gives you a few more MPH as it rides higher up on the 780 for more overdrive effect. BUT my main reason with the engine as far back in the cart as is practical it allowed me to lay the S/G down toward the front of the cart so the dip stick is easily removed. So that was accomplished with an extended S/G top bracket and a longer S/G belt.I then added a Fumoto drain valve making oil changes a snap. My last BUT not least benefit was adding a magnetic dipstick that I remove each day before the drive and clean off any tiny iron particles the magnet has attracted between runs. On page 14 of my Vc 460 thread you can see how this opens up access to the front of the engine.

Re: G2 Lifan swap
The other thing there is to make the exhaust system after you have found where the engine will set . As I went to shorter and shorter belts I had to keep shortening the header pipe. As you have seen the space is Very tight where the muffler goes so engine placement for belt tension and header length are a factor. My system does not have any slip joints in it making it very specific.

Re: G2 Lifan swap
Take a look at Vegascarts technical blog "carb tuning 101" It is an excellent guide on tuning the ruixing type carbs. The big black cap is the idle adjustment screw. Page 22 in the VC installation guide of the G2-14 for the 460 shows this.
