Default Yamaha g16 frame tubing size

Can anybody verify the size tubing for a g16 I’m working on stretching mine I cut it and measured the back half looks to be 2 1/4 inch and the front section looks to be 1 7/8 diameter I was just trying to make sure it’s my first stretch and am trying to figure out thickness hate to put something in that will flex was thinking in using roll cage tubing any info is appreciated

Since you've got the tubing cut already it would be super easy to just check the wall thickness with calipers. The exact wall thickness probably won't be important as it might be a metric or special made tubing for Yamaha and you're going to probably be buying steel you can get locally that has gauge wall thickness.

As far as the not bending... go thicker. Whatever the wall thickness is I'd go thicker and maybe larger diameter if you can do it. You're stretching the cart so the added spanning distance will require more strength. Then you'll be putting more into the stretched cart so you'll need even more strength. Depending on your stretch you might even consider rectangular tubing so you can have nice tall, vertical sidewalls for strength but making that round to rectangular transition will require extra work.

Since only you know how long you are stretching and what you intend to carry only you can do the figuring.

Some gusset plates in the joint area and everything can be good.

Sorry if I sounded rude We would cut under the floorboard where the frame tubes were the same "OD". We did some on the inside "OD" and some on the outside "OD". I liked the inside because we could stick it farther into the frame tubes before welding. We also used a lot of 1 x1 tubing for floor support. Good luck on you build

If strength is a priority, definitely use DOM tubing and not "pipe". Yes, gussets, gussets, gussets! How about some pics?
