EZGO 36v PDS Curtis 1268 conversion question.
Hey guys, I have a 2010 36v EZGO PDS cart and I came across a Curtis 1268 500a controller. I had to search far and wide for a wiring harness that actually matched and finally got it, but my problem is everything lines up perfectly except for the walkaway relay plug that comes off the controller and harness. I do not have a walkaway Relay (that I can tell) and need to figure out a solution to either bypass the relay, or put one in. Right now it will on go for 2-3 feet before stopping and the code is showing an issue with the walkaway relay. Thank you in advance. I can send a photo to someone if needed.

You can either add the relay or get a handheld and turn that function off. Just a setting in the controller. The walkaway feature is really made for the carts with hydraulic brakes and an ebrake handle.

Thanks for the reply! I haven’t been able to find a factory relay anywhere for the 36v unfortunately. I don’t want to spend $500 on a programmer for one setting. I wish I could find someone around Atlanta GA that had one that I could either borrow or bring my setup to them.

The controller just needs to “see” the solenoid connected so any 36 volt solenoid or relay will work. Where are you near Atlanta?

Is the 1268 configured for EM brake or Walkaway? they are different and require different wiring.
If it is setup for walkaway brake, you need a relay that can operate a 36v and hold at 24v, something like this: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail...Y37Tjy7A%3D%3DRun a 12ga wire from some point after the "Tow/run" switch to an inline 20 amp fuse. The other side of the fuse run 2 wires, a 14ga to controller pin #3 and a 12ga to the relay NO terminal. Run a 12ga wire from the relay COM terminal to Controller B+ or the Solenoid big post on the Controller B+ side. The Relay coil terminals get wire to Controller Pin #9 (pos) and Controller pin #23 (neg). Yo don't need a fly-back diode as the 1268 provides internal protection. |

Thank you guys. I am located north of Atlanta in Cumming area. Thank you Sergio, it is the walkaway featured 1268 and what you said made sense. I appreciate the help. I know it would be easier to just program it to turn off the walkaway feature, but I will do the relay if necessary.
