Dull cold day on the bay so I decided to explore if my original clone camshaft was in any way different lengthwise than the VC supplied torque cam that I purchased as a spare on VC's black friday sale. I measured and compared in every possible way to see if there were any dimension issues encountered by Sho 305 with his cam swap in the lifan. I am happy to report on at least on these 2 camshafts this variation does not exist. Some people have also reported the drive gear being narrower on the torque cam but in the 2 examples I have the torque cams gear is actually .030" wider. I did buy shims for both the crank and cam shafts for the Omega engine just in case.

Just wanted to say Thanks!

Glad it helped you. That is really the main reason for it and the snowmobile powered HD cart threads.

I should add that when I first got my 460 in 2014 I searched the web for how to use the kill wire with the yamahas ignition switch and ended up on BGW and Sho's thread on the 5 wire relay, which ended up being one of the few stickies us poor clone users have. And when I ruined my 3 circuit carb Shepard spotted my woes and offered a fix.

Just replaced the cam on my 460, but didn’t notice ( or check) for a difference in the gear. I was more interested in getting both lobes back to the right lift/duration!
See, I initially ran my brand-new motor, without bothering to put oil in it . . . .
It wore the exhaust lobe down by.060, and hammered the rod bearings slightly. Crank journal, and connecting rod check-ed out, rest of the valve train seems intact. So, new cam & rod bearing inserts, and back in business. Time will tell if I shortened the life of the engine.

I can't find a pic from the side, but certainly was a difference in gear thickness. I get out there I will find it and measure. Things a little hectic right now with not having power for 3 days. Could be HD Lifan was wider and other clones are not.

Sho305 - our power was out for 3 days here too. ( this time) so I can relate. Got the transfer switch installed for the generator about 2 weeks ago. No more multiple exrtrnsion cords !
Outside it looks more like when I lived in Michigan (UP), than California.
And , my clone ezgo is about the only thing moving, not counting the black lab- he loves snow.

Still have the cams laying around from yesterday so here is the pic you asked about with the torque cam being on the right P.S. The stock cam on the left has over 200 hours on it. I could not find any signs of wear on this "less durable part"

The GF and I did some bay shore touring in her SUV today. We were really surprised to see the amount of sand over some of back roads along the bay from the recent high winds and tides. I had some great yankee pot roast from the MRD's sunday special. P.S They are calling for SNOW here tonite.
