Default Carryall 400cc engine performance improvements

I've seen plenty of discussion on getting more power and speed from the FE290's or the FE350's but nothing on the FE400 that is in my Pioneer 1200 UTV (Similar to a carryall but with a stock 'lift kit' on it) - I've got mine tore down and am waiting on the crankshaft rebuilder to hopefully give me good news that he can weld / straighten / grind the counterbalance weight journal...

SO the big question is - other than milling the head .020-.030 and cleaning up the portwork on the head and a timing advance key - are there any other performance mods that will net me more power? I've got the driven clutch off so I can mess with that one if it's going to net me more speed or pulling power but everything I see is for the smaller engines and I'm going to guess the calibrations are going to be off for my 400cc engine. (can anyone answer that one?)

Any source for jets for the carb? I'm thinking of going with a K&N style filter and modifying the exhaust to run a straight through motorcycle muffler which should help breathing but I know I'll need more fuel to add to the increased air flow.

Also - has anyone modified the driven clutch to allow it to open up more and the belt to ride down further to gain some top speed or modified the drive clutch to close up further? (the old scooters I messed with for a while had spacers or limiters in them to prevent higher top speeds and just taking the spacers out or shaving them helped top end)

Consider yourself lucky you have a 400. I have a 350 in my pioneer and it is a bit doggy. Pretty much everything you do to the 350's you can do to the 400. Beyond what is in the sticky on more power there isn't much you can do without lots of cash and then you might as well get a bigger engine. Cart Parts Plus can machine your driven clutch and get you jets. I had it done to mine but I didn't notice much improvement.
