Wiring a voltmeter to G2
I have a G2 that I have been fixing up. I wanted a voltmeter so I could monitor the charge. The voltmeter I bought came with directions to wire it to a club car which is different. No matter how I seem to wire it, it does not work properly. Is there a wiring spec for wiring this to a G2?

Re: Wiring a voltmeter to G2
The application is the same regardless of brand....the voltmeter ( state of charge) needs to see the voltage across the whole pack to give a reading. Use your test voltmeter ( you have to have one to get the most out of this gauge)....with your volt meter Check the voltage at the charger plug and now follow those two wires to where they connect and check the voltage there...the same? Then this is where the meter connects. NOW you want it in the dash, right? So go to the key switch and check the voltage there .... the same okay that is most likely the positive side ( verify with the voltmeter) and run a ground wire from the pack ( where the charger connected) to the negative side of the meter.....Now for the function part. The state of charge meter is an indicator and you need to figure out what it is indicating when and where. Charge the cart. Let it rest 45 minutes and take a reading. Full charge on 36v =38.20 and 48v = 50.93 recharge when 50% drained 36v = 36.31 and 48v = 48.41 .....you will find these #s are still way in the green on your colorful gauge!? These are the limits suggested by the worlds biggest Golf Cart Battery manufacture....make a mark on the gauge where you will be wanting to recharge ... Think of it as having a gas gauge that isn't quite right
I use them on all of my electrics ....they are an essential addition. |

Re: Wiring a voltmeter to G2
Thanks for the help. I will get to work on it and see if I can get it to read correctly.
