Re: Runs very very slow
We got the golf cart 2 1/2 weeks ago with no batteries so I don't know if it ever went faster. Haven't charged the batteries in a while since they are new and I want to drain them down completely but the voltage right now is 25.
thanks for any help you might be able to offer |

Re: Runs very very slow
You don't want to drain those batt. down below 50%, you could damage them, Get that thing on the charger. I am wondering right now if your charger will kick on with them that low.

Re: Runs very very slow
I think this is a 48v cart with six 8 volt batteries.....an 8v battery will hold 8.5+ volts when fully charged...it is empty at 8 volts. Your fully charged and settled pack will read about 51 - 52 volts..... You want to check yours 30 minutes after the charger turns off. That gives the activity time to settle so you get a true reading of what she holds. 50% discharge is halfway back to 48v... Do the math and be religious about it.....P.S. yes your charger may run all day or night after what you just did to the batteries....let it finish and check the water...that is distilled water only.... and ......Good Luck.

Re: Runs very very slow
Hey sweade here is the shortcut for Bat. Maint. just in case you have a hard time finding sticky http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...intenance.html.
Long story short . 1. It takes New batteries several charges before the reach their full potential. After complete charge run cart 15-20 mins and then charge gain ( do this 5-7 ) times and they will reach max. 2. Lead Acid batteries do not have memory like cell phones, when the pack is down to 48 Volt it needs charging same with 36 Volt cart. 3. The OBC working in conjunction with the charger will keep U from over charging batteries. It will turn off when full charge is achived AND will come back on if Batteries drain too far. SO U can keep it plugged into the charger ALL THE TIME when not using the cart. 4. With New batteries completely broken in 36 Volt=39-40 Volt and 48 Volt=52-53 Get a Volt meter and check across the pack , after you think these are broke in, let the cart set for 15-30 min. after charger is disconnected , this should be your operating Voltage. |
