Default G8 to club car ds engine swap

I'm planning on putting an 18hp in my g8 over the winter. I also have a club car ds with blown engine and plan on putting the g8 engine in the ds, they all rotate ccw from the fan side so rotation wouldn't be a problem. Plan on using control wiring circuit of the ds n the g8 engine and using the ds starter on the clone and the g8 starter control circuit, just have to use the g8 cdi and shouldn't have to use anything else. Can anyone else think of anything I'm missing. The g8 is my personal cart and my 2 club cars will be rental carts.

Just my .02 but sounds to me like one of those ideas that’s better theoretically than it is once trying to actually execute the task. That’s gonna take a considerable amount of fab and wiring to make it happen… wiring is all different, exhaust and muffler is on the wrong side once you flip the Yamaha motor backwards, etc. not saying it’s not possible but I dont think the end benefit would be worth the time and effort to make it happen.

What year is the DS?

Rotation should always be noted on the clutched side since that’s where the work gets done.
96 and earlier Club car needs a ccw rotation
97 and later need clockwise
You can switch and swap, but using a cw in a ccw (and vise versa) cart will mean F and R are opposite on the shifter, and R will be the faster gear.

Ignition system and voltage regulator(could probably just use the ds regulator) should be the only thing electrical to transfer from the g8 to the ds. The starting circuit is basically the same on all carts, end goal is to energize the starter solenoid. I have a welder, porta band, angle grinder and milling machine so I can fab about anything I need. G8 is a free engine. I got the blown up ds and a g1 for $500. Cleaned up the g1 and put a rural king battery in it and sold it for $600 so I'm well above water right now on the ds.
