Default Performance exhaust question

I’m looking for more power and a bit louder exhaust. Has anyone used a pancake style exhaust on the FE290?

Default Re: Performance exhaust question

I don’t think you’ve really got anything to gain on the 290 by changing the exhaust, except perhaps a tuning headache.

Reality is, it’s a ~9hp motor. It isn’t ever gonna do much. You could swap to a FE350 from a carryall or precedent. That gives it a decent boost in power. Not gonna break any records, but I had a DS a couple years ago I put a FE350 in it, definitely had a stronger pull up hills compared to my others with a 290. But still not sure that’s gonna meet your expectations from the description I’m seeing… you may be best off reading up in the clone/big block swap section. Put a 420 clone and it’s a huge boost in power. V-Twin vanguard swap will really make some power.

Just depends on how you want to do it. But simply changing the muffler isn’t gonna do anything but make noise. If that’s what you’re after, you’re better off saving some cash and drilling a couple holes in the bottom of the muffer. I’ve had some rusty ones that made some noise
