Default belt width

starting a 420 predator swap and ordered the drive pully and TC pulley. I was more concerned about bore size that I didnt look at size of belt they took. Both are for a 7/8" belt. The one on the cart was 1". What issues am I going to run into? Pulleys rated up to 18 HP.

If you use a 7/8" belt on 1" clutches you will essentially make the belt ride farther down into the pulleys, making higher gear ratio. You also might find the engagement sloppy. Belts will likely wear out sooner with the 18 hp engine.

Best to match belts to the clutches. Using something other than intended could have unforeseen issues.

guess my main question really didnt come across. Yes the pulleys are for 7/8 and plan on using a 7/8 belt. so question was any issue using a smaller belt? Will it hold up to this heavy cart?

Ok, I thought you said the old one was 1"?

Well anyway....if you are using a 7/8" belt on a 13 hp engine it won't last very long and might have issues with slipping under heavy load. If you don't carry passengers and/or drive on flat pavement you might be ok. Once you put a load on that cart the belt might start slipping.
