'73 HD model D starter generator problem
My father has rebuilt a three wheeled HD golf cart. He is having difficulty with the starter generator. The starter and the generator both work, the generator puts out voltage but it doesn't charge the battery. The voltage regulator is not indicating any output voltage.
There is no part number on either the starter generator or the voltage regulator, making it difficult to buy a new or used one. Any help or direction as to either fixing it or where to buy a new one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Weblee |

The regulator is part # 746512-76. There is one on E Bay for $60 or Vintagegolfcartparts # EL11-070 for around $70. I believe it is the same Hitachi unit used on the 65-78 ironhead and shovel head HD bikes. I had to change mine when I was running the stock 81 model D

P.S. I see BMI Karts list their part # 74510-64 for $10 on sale. I have bought from BMI and Vintage and they are reliable suppliers.
