Air ride G2 project
Finally getting around to posting some pictures of my project yamaha G2. Plans are to air shock the front and bag the rear. The front and rear plastics will need to stretched and widened to tuck the 14"wheels. Also plan to ditch the resistor coil set up for modern 48v electronics with a more powerful motor. Stereo will come last...

Re: Air ride G2 project
I had a Heidts dual control arms and crossmember from a 32 ford roadster laying around in mechanics shop at the tech school where I teach auto collision. The stock single a-arm set up would have been easier but I didn't want a bunch of camber when it was laid out. Ended up making a new crossmember and then cutting off the front section of the frame to narrow it 2".

Re: Air ride G2 project
Gotti,
I have studied your thread several times looking for ideas for my project. I'm just hoping that once I get it on the ground and rolling that it all works out. I don't plan on it going much faster than 20-25 mph so it doesn't have to handle like a race car. |

Here are some pictures of the steering knuckles I fabricated to work with the upper and lower control arms.

Re: Air ride G2 project
Here are the knuckles and controls arms tacked into place. I have cut the upper controls arm mounts off and shaved them down to make sure the upper arms are as parallel as I can get them to the lowers arms.

Re: Air ride G2 project
You are a great fabricator! Very impressive.
One thought, I think the upper and lower a arm should be parallel to each other to avoid the camber change you spoke of. In your design, I could be wrong, but it looks like the camber will be positive at full drop. As I said, I could be wrong. I know you said that setup is from a mustang 2, which I'm not familiar with. Not sure if your parts are the same as this? Very, very cool build! And again, impressed with your fab skills. Are you a welder/fabricator professionally? |

Re: Air ride G2 project
I have this same front end in My 29 ford roadster pickup I'm building. It is a nice set up. I see You removed the ball joint and cut them. And made the plate to mount the spindles to. Great work I think it's going to work great
