Default Electric Fuel Pump on a G1????

Anyone know if an inline Electric Fuel Pump will work on an 81 g1??? My stock fuel pump is not pumping fuel and I was thinking about running all new gas lines and using an Electric Fuel Pump to get the fuel from the tank to the carb. Will this work or just cause more problems???

It will work but you will have to be careful the pump you choose does not excede the psi break point of the inlet needle in the carb. Have you looked at the sticky (fuel pump) at the top of this section?

It would be much easier to just run one new fuel line with an electric inline fuel pump mounted at the tank. I've already got a small electric fuel pump and I premix all my gas. I can't see why repairing or replacing an old stock fuel pump would be better if the new electric one will work better.

I have never repaired a G1 carb but from the pictures in the sticky I have repaired a couple on snowmobiles almost just like the G1. Actually their usually only a cracked gasket or dirt has collected inside a in or out pipe of around the gearing.

Your fuel pump will probably make too much pressure..... the original system uses very darn little. I put an electric on an older CC once and then had to add a regulator to get the pressure down to 4 psi before it would stop flooding the carb.... Try replacing the hose to the engine block and then a rebuild like Calvin says usually just dirt.....
