Lift Kit Without New Wheels And Tires?
Hi All! This is my 2nd post ......
Just wondering if I can lift my Yamaha G16 Gas with a Jakes lift and not put on new tires and rims? Is it ok to run on stock tire and rims with a lift kit? This will be my first cart project can't wait. But will have to pace myself for all the modifications I would like to do as see on this wonderful site. Thanks |

Hi Normy,
You can run a lifted cart with stock tires and wheels. But some lifts require larger rims and offset rims for clearance. I believe the jakes will need a 10" rim to clear the tierod steering risers. You can check with our site sponsors to be sure. |

No can do, the stock rims will rub because of the offset on the spindles. Go onto Jake's site and it will tell you what you can and can't do.

Yep.. need 10" wheels with teh 6" lift. I just installed it and the tie rod riser is what causes the problem. It will not fit inside the back of the rim. Not sure about a 4" lift.... |

These guys are telling you right.
If you go with a Jakes 6 in lift you will need at least 10 inch wheels. Mine has 12 inch wheels with 23 inch tires. Good luck and send pics |

If you get one, get 1) a good floor jack, 2) a pair of tall jack stands, 3) a friend to help... it will make it WAY easier.... I did it by myself in a few hours on night and a few the next morning, but I striped a few bolts and had to run to the store for new ones... |
