Default Reversing contactor continuity

I installed one of Scotty's heavy duty SW182 reversing contactors in my 2005 series 36V TXT in August 2016 and have greatly enjoyed being free of the old F-R switch. In the past two months the cart would sometimes momentarily not respond when put in reverse and then suddenly engage. Today it totally stopped going into reverse although the contactor clicks when the pedal is applied. There is no problem going forward. The only seeming abnormality I have found is that there is continuity between the two step down bent terminals (for cables 5 and 8 that go to S1 and S2). Does that mean the contactor is shorted internally? All other wires have been detached from the contactor and this still occurs. If this is normal, what else might I check? Many thanks.
