Dakota Lithium Batteries
Has anyone here ever tried the Dakota Lithium batteries? At $170 a piece I wondered if they would be an option when my batteries need replaced.

Re: Dakota Lithium Batteries
They cannot withstand the current draw of a golf cart. The onboard BMS cuts off the output and when a modern controller loses power suddenly like that it can cause damage.

Re: Dakota Lithium Batteries
Thanks
Was just looking around online and thought for my 08 txt 36v that it may have been an option in the future. I have a bone stock cart and have no current plans to change that other than the batteries when they need it. Just looking for options that wont break the bank |

Re: Dakota Lithium Batteries
Judging from the companies web site, https://dakotalithium.com/comparison/?v=7516fd43adaa I am assuming your $170 price point is for their 12-V 20 amp\hr battery....or worse yet, the 10 amp\hr model.
Neither of those would last long in a cart application. On their web site they state that 4 of their 170 amp\hr batteries would be the solution. At $1,699 per battery that's getting very pricy. And that's not a "drop 'n go" setup. |

Re: Dakota Lithium Batteries
check out the lithium section. there are several people who have used Nissan leaf cells there. I'm the oddball, I used Chevy Volt cells. You could use cells from other cars so long as you get enough capacity for what you want to do. Just be safe.

Re: Dakota Lithium Batteries
I normally don't like to bump threads this old, but it falls in line. Looks like Dakota is launching a Golf Cart line this summer. Higher Ah (54 or 100) for the demands of golf carts. What seems odd is:
12V 10A LiFePO4 charger included (1 per battery) Sounds like they're not utilizing the stock charging port? https://dakotalithium.com/product/da...v=7516fd43adaa |

Re: Dakota Lithium Batteries
It is very technically difficult to properly charge separate lithium packs wired in Series unless all cells in all packs are in perfect balance.
if you are using separate 12v lithium packs, individually charging is the best way to prevent a battery failure. |

Re: Dakota Lithium Batteries
how would you go about charging them individually? Disconnect each?

But at 54ah, their capacity is even lower than the smallest of the 3 lithium packs offered by ezgo. And would be well under 1/2 of the capacity of a pack made out of Trojan T-105 batteries. These are a bit of a joke to me. |
