2000 EZGO Txt 36v - new owner
Hello - and thanks for accepting me into this forum!
I've just acquired my first cart - EZGO TXT. It was represented to be a 2000, but I can't seem to find anything online to confirm that. The nomenclature tag is long gone. I'm hoping this hive-mind can help me out, based i=on the attached pix. The buggy zips on the flats, bogs a bit on the hills (low hills). Also, what I'm guessing is the control box (brown box with ter5minals on top in the attached pix) gets quite hot after a short, slow traverse of some of my hilly trails. Advice for me? |

That is a pre 95 resistor cart. Marathon model.

Yikes - what are the characteristics that make that known?

The rubber nose is one dead giveaway. Pic 4 is the top of the coil box which will definitely get warm when being driven.

One more question - does the 2000 model also have that coil box? Are there other component-level differences between this unit and a 2000 model?

Ezgo went to a solid state controller and an ITS throttle in 95 so 2000 won’t have that box. Your cart also has a metal body which also went away in 95. Parts for the most part are available for everything else but make sure it is for your model.

If you are new to carts, go to the "Electric EZGo" section and read up on your cart. Lots of maintenance advice (expecially batteries), etc. Helped me a lot when I first got mine. Understand what to do & not do.

36 volt carts are inherently slow and lack torque for hills. Resistor coils waste energy reducing range.
Things to investigate for upgrading: See if Plum Quick can do the Bandit upgrade on your motor Convert to 42 or 48 volts DC Convert to Navitas AC if they make a conversion for your cart |

Congrats on the new ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives, husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |
