Re: 1990 Yamaha gas lift
I have to be honest. DO NOT BUY THAT ECONOMY LIFT!!!! There made in china and the steel is so soft, one bump and the steel brackets bend. I only use Jakes, but thats me. I'm pretty shure other members will say the same, but it is up to you. Pay me now, or pay me later comes to mind. Don't put yourself or family at risk! Good luck and show us some pic's of your build. Re: 1990 Yamaha gas lift
I'm some what new here myself, but if you read all the Yamaha posts on this site, you will be able to answer your own question. It depends on what you want and what your gona do with it. What size tires and what terrain you'll be riding on.
I would say, most people put the 6" single or 6" double A arm lift on as it is the most versatile. Brand is also opinion. I picked Jakes 6" single A arm and very happy with it. PS. and on edit, when smallblock says something, believe it! |

Re: 1990 Yamaha gas lift
nothing major, no jumps just following my son around on his 70 honda and maybe a little mud. Will the power be ok with a 20" or will i need a clutch spring. Thanks for the replies. PS, how much is the jakes single and double? I cant seem to find a price on the Jakes website.

Re: 1990 Yamaha gas lift
Check site sponsors, they can get one for you. Single is around $300. and a double is around $750. but it is long travel and has front shocks.
I would go with at least a 23" tire and a secondary clutch spring. You will probably get hooked like the rest of us, and want the car to be as versatile as it can be, and you'll be using it for everything you can. Fun to work on! |

Re: 1990 Yamaha gas lift
I got the 6" Jakes lift with 22x11x10 tires on 10" steel wheels. You can get all that for about $700 shipped from CPP. I also got the torque spring also and it was well worth it. It rides well and steers well. I also got the HD springs because I have a bed in the back and it hauls some weight.

Re: 1990 Yamaha gas lift
I have a Jake's 6" single A arm on my big block G9. It has been on for a few years now with no problems at all. Well worth the money.

Re: 1990 Yamaha gas lift
i keep seeing the comment about a secondary spring(much trouble to put on) I have a g22a and it has tons more power than the G2A. It seems very sluggish and really no torque. will it help that much or do I have other issues?
I will get some pics up soon. |
