Default Is a lift kit needed for Briggs 18HP conversion?

A while ago, i aquired an old 1991 Club Car DS with the flathead KF82.
After a while of daily use the engine seems to have lost power and is starting to burn oil. Im looking at swapping the KF82 For the 18HP Briggs VTwin kit, but im contemplating weither a lift kit is nesikcary or not. Ive surfed around the internet and opinions differ. Supposivley from what i read a lift kit is needed due to tight clearences between the air intake assy and the bottom of the seat.

CCP says a 4" lift is needed for their Club Car Big Block kit. And welcome to BGW.

From everything I've seen, the only carts that can remain stock are the Yamahas.I don't know if it includes the G2,8,9,but the 14-up will take a 14hp+ in stock-form.My Dad did his G16 with a 14 Briggs Vannie, and his own mounts,it sits nice, looks stock, and has a Cub-Cadet muffler,so its' barely louder than stock(unless you nail-it!).Club-Cars need a minimum of 3"-Lift for the same engine.Hope this helps.
