Question Re: VRX460 Magnum

I can see that the new piston will not work in either of my present engines as they both @ 0 deck height. I had to go all the way down to a 390 crank to use the Bullfrog rod with the VC flat top in my Omega build. But as you say it gets you in the right direction with the longer ARC rod.

Yes, If the VC rod and piston combo is to be considered to have been flush with the deck(as I recall it did from just eyeballing my own VC460) then a Long ARC rod and New style piston combo would theoretically put you about 0.020" down in the hole, add another 0.020 for the most common MLS head gasket, and you are at a not terrible quench of 0.040". 0.030-0.035 is probably where you want to be though, the NR 0.018 gasket would get you close enough. A true 70mm stroker would put the piston at deckheight.

I'm totally aware the deck hight might vary on these engines, the guality control is probably on par with chevy anno 1967

I just ordered another block from EC. I see at the bottom of the page their is a link for international shipping. I figured get it while the getting is good. Once they are sold out who knows what will happen. So with the OEM Honda flywheel plus the ARC 4.41 rod, 69mm crank and an uncut stock 460 piston I can build a Gen 2 VC 460 short block

There is an newish Hemi available, with a more modern combustion chamber design. It is sold as the Lifan Kp 460.
Mocked up with an ARC long rod the the stock flat top piston pops up slighly from the deck about 0.018". Combustion chamber is just 41cc and stock CR is probably more than 10:1. With the ARC long rod CR ends up at 12.2:1

Same size valve seats as on a stock gx390 heads, but valve sizes are only 35/32mm, thats the downside.
