1/2 scale speedster
Finally got back to this project after some months. Fabricated motor mounts and jackshaft assembly mounts after a great deal of planning and layout. Made new heavier arms for the front 4-link 5/8 round drilled and tapped on the lathe, and a new lower wishbone type link, lighting holes and dimpled just because it looked better than the first tubular version. Mocked up the EZ go front hubs and ordered narrower wheels and tires for the front. Everything up front is a tight fit with the briggs opposed mounted low and the suspension air bagged to layframe. Rack and pinion is made from the guts of the steering box off the EZ go donor cart that I bought for the Dana rear axle. Plan to redo the shroud for appearnce, not going to run without one. I did mange to figure in locations for the air bag and a sway bar without interrupting the planned bodywork (similar to a classic model A speedster in miniature). The steering shaft is just fitting under the engine figuring in suspension travel route to the wheel is still TBD. Both frame tubes 1''x3'' are internally gusseted and pressure tested as air tanks, chased down all the leaks.
Have the compressor and regs, plan to run manual valves. |
