Default 89 Par Car engine swap

Well, finally got some time in my hands and decided to change the engine on my $150 89 Par Car, when I bought it the original engine was apart, and as per the person I bought it from: just for a "few month", judging for the amount of dirt in it I will guess a few years instead.
A couple of days ago I got my 16 HP Duro Max (made in China) for $299 with electric start and I know I am going to make a few changes to fit it in, it is taller than the original so a lift is a must, well that is what I told the wifee, and also understand that I will have to fab my own "home made" lift kit, here is where Mudtrux home made lift kit comes handy (from another thread).
The most important question, since this is my first cart and I am not very familiar with all the ins and outs,

-Will the forward and reverse relay mechanism work as well with the new engine?

This is going to be a slow change but I will be posting pictures of the work as it goes along and of course I will have more questions as the swap goes along!

Well, that's how new I am at this, I thought that the "big block" category was for people that put car engines on golf carts, come to find out there is a lot of information there that will help me, have not read the thread there yet, however if some one can help me with my question in the first post I will greatly appreciated, and for the mod if this thread needs to be in "Big Block" category please move it there, thanks!

Trying the pictures again, great it worked I just finished taking it all apart down to the frame luckly only small amounts of rust, definetely an Arizona cart, the only big rust is underneath of the rubber floor in the pedals area

You will not have reverse with a 4cyle engine. These carts have 2 cycle engines and run in reverse. You will need a rear end from a 4 cycle cart. It would be easier to buy a cc yam or ez. Or rebuile the 2cycle.

Thanks Jeggers,

will it matter if it comes out of an electric cart or will it need to be from a gas cart?

I've gotten the 16HP Dutro Max already and made changes to the axle frame, removed the original engine mounts and reverse its position, gaining about 8 to 9 inch lift which will go down a little once the body/seat and accesorries go on plus my rear end.
