Default carb

I have read that the only difference between the 18 & the 20 horsepower vanguard engines is the intake manifold and carb,is this true?If so is there enough power difference to justify changing these parts out?

From what I was told, the 18 is really a 20 with 18 hp stickers. I believe Tom
told me this.

I have seen that on another forum as well, but they said the difference was the carb, single barrel vs two barrel, and the manifold.

I would have to check with Tom on this. I thought the manifold and carb
change came with the 23 hp.

Yeah that could be,I read that on a lawnmower racing forum, but they are not too keen on "non lawnmower racers" asking questions.

That may be it,I don't remember,it was one of those late nights and I thought that I had found the almighty b&s racing forum, but those guys take things a little too serious for me.So I just looked around, there is a ton of info there for these engines.
