Re: 96 ezgo 36volt wont go
I am guessing now, but maybe it is a series cart. Shifter by your knee, no toggle switch on the controller cover. The sizzling noise came from the F&R switch, it sounds like low level arc welding. It is the burning contact sound.
Pull the cover and see if one of the contact lugs and cable look like they got hot, discolored or melted jacket. Try wiggling the shifter handle with the peddle depressed and see if the cart lurches forward? or back ? |

DCS cart ...... hopefully you can find a loose connection someplace in the high amperage delivery system. Start inspecting the end of every cable..... give them a tug and twist test, too.

Re: 96 ezgo 36volt wont go
scottyb is right.. I went through this with my 96 DCS.. I checked every cable. except for the ones that attach to the motor.. I found a cable that had burned loose back there. I also went through this 1 other time and it was infact a reed swtich.. I just jumped across it, installed a inline 10 amp fuse and have never had a problem with it since.. Knock on wood..

Re: 96 ezgo 36volt wont go
Reed switch is a safety fuse in the charge receptacle which interrupts the power supply when the charger is plugged in.
If it fails you have no power to the cart ignition system. Here is a pic from one of my old carts |
