Electric powered cars can supplement commutes 30 miles or less with ease and most commutes fall into this category.
As for long rang... the technology is not practical yet. Practical means it is within the average person's grasp financially and mechanically. Concept cars have proven long range electric is possible but also show they are not affordable and require a certified electronics technician to maintain. That last comment is a bit sarcastic because a lot of you folks here are not certified and understand electric quite well. Knowing golf carts as you do there are still a lot of people who can't maintain them. An electric car is the same principle with a lot more expense involved. I have to agree with Fishing Dude, until electric is practical for long range the only affordable infrastructure right now is fossil fuel. Arguments welcome. |
