G1 gas tank ?
Hi all. After taking my G1 for a nice long ride I noticed that there is some gas leaking on the top of my gas tank where the gas guage is. Can I just pop this thing out of the tank and put some sealer in there without damaging anything? If not I'll just clean it up real good and seal it from the outside.

Re: G1 gas tank ?
Mine leaks a bit too. Haven't pulled it out yet to see why. My only concern with sealant would be it falling into the tank and end up in the carburetor. Since my gauge doesn't work anyway, thought about just finding a plug for it. Replacement gauge is only $20 though.

Re: G1 gas tank ?
i can only assume you 2 are talking about the hole right next to the filler? thats a vent...DO NOT PLUG IT UP. you need it. There is a fixture that has a cap on it to keep it from splashing out but you just have to get a new one and i dont even know if they are available

Re: G1 gas tank ?
Think I found a fix for this. There's an o-ring seal on the gauge. Put a new one on. Went out and beat it around trying to make it seep/leak and it seems to be holding. There's a little residual fuel where the o-ring is, but the top of the tank used to be covered with fuel before replacing it. Cheap fix since I had the o-ring and no risk of sealant falling into the tank and getting in the carb.
