Clutch install trouble's
Ok,so the UPS guy brought me my Birthday gift..I ordered a new clutch from CPP (1 1/8 straight shaft) I was excited and anxious to get it installed.I can get the clutch on the shaft without the key,but I can't for the life of me get the clutch on with the key..I've tried and tried, but can not get the **** thing together without the risk of damaging anything..I've cleaned up any burr's or rough spot's on the key but to no evail..
Any idea's and input would be greatly appreciated.. |

Re: Clutch install trouble's
Chamfer the leading edge of the key that goes into the clutch with a file. Makes it easier. Make sure the shaft is clean, and lube it with a little oil.

Re: Clutch install trouble's
Did the key come with the clutch or did you already have it? Reason I ask is when I pulled the Comet clutch off my 23 the key-way was a rectangle, not a square. The wide side I believe went into the crank.
