Default XCT + Contactor X2 + Diode Question

I need to use 2 contactors; one for the cart, and one to separate the battery from the cart in the event of low or high voltgage. The BMS has outputs to do this.

I use a regen protection diode around the main contactor terminals*(Regen Diode) The large posts pass current through them when the energizing coil closes and pulls the contacts up. If the controller was to lose power while the regen circuit was active (which would take a switch/electrical failure or key being turned off), it could damage the controller. That is why it is a must that the striped/banded end of the regen diode be installed on/and facing the same large post as the Main Pack Pos battery cable

If I put a pack disconnect contactors in series with the main contactor, don't I invalidate the protection previously mentioned. In this case, would I put a contactor on the negative side for similar effect?
