You might want to be flexible on which batteries you can use. Though I haven't looked, cheap ones seem to be rare. One lucky fellow here found a set of barely used batteries really cheap. Others can tell you their experience, but if/when I do mine, batteries are the first thing I'll be looking for. Once I find reasonable ones, I'll lock them in, and build from there.
