Re: 2 Controllers???

Re: 2 Controllers???
"Hey, Bubba, watch this!"
Battery disconnect, fire extinguisher, bolt cutters, gloves, eye protection, but most important of all, a video camera, are all necessary for this experiment, from my recollection of the Watch Mr Wizard show... Cheers -- Gary |

Sorry. It doesn't work that way. You'll end up frying both controllers. But if you wanna try it please tell us how it went....and plenty of pics. |

Re: 2 Controllers???
As you know by now controllers are switching devices, if the same clock switched them then you could parallel them. Unfortunately there is no way to synchronize their clocks so they would be ON and OFF at different times.

Re: 2 Controllers???
Just had an idea for a spare controller!
If you have an extra 225A Curtis or something you could wire this thing up as a variable DC-to-DC switching device!!! What does this mean? You would be able to use the entire battery pack for lights, no tapping and throwing the battery balance out. Since a 225A controller is rated for about 150A continuous you could operate 150A worth of lighting. Pros: 150A worth of lighting that can be tuned by the user to 14.5V per 12V light just like an alternator would produce. Technically since lights are resistive loads rather than inductive load like motors you could get away with more amperage. Cons: Since it is user adjustable you could put enough voltage to blow out an entire bank of lights at the touch of a knob! Wouldn't that be cool! |
