G8 48v Upgrade Wiring Question
Hello everyone, posted this in the Yamaha forum as well, hoping to get this thing put to bed finally.
I have upgraded my 1990 G8 to 48v and i am getting 29mph out of her, very happy with the upgrade. I do have one last piece of the puzzle I hope someone can help me with. The throttle is all or nothing, no smooth acceleration, just full bore. I have the Curtis 1205 controller installed and I feel I have all the parameters set correctly so I am questioning my wiring of the accelerator. When I first started this I was using a schematic that was not correct for my cart and I was having a lot of problems. I found the correct schematic and things went great, except for the acceleration issue. I guess my question is, what should I do with the Yellow and Yellow/Black wires? In the first schematic I used it showed the Yellow going to the B+ on the controller and the Yellow/Black going to J1 for power to the controller. But that is not correct, my cart has power from the key on the Brown wire and I have that connected to the controller. So what do you think? Below are the 2 schematics I am talking about. Cart is running just fine now with the exception of the acceleration issue. Thanks for any help/suggestions. Current wiring: Brown to J1 Blue to J2 (from accelerator) White to J3 (from accelerator) Green to B- (from accelerator) B+ to solenoid B- directly to B- of the battery M- directly to S2 of the motor |
