Default Charging EZGO 6x6V with Gas Generator While Driving

What prevents a 2002 ezgo 6x6V cart from being driven while taking a charge
from the charger powered by a generator? On occasion, I'd like to get some extended range from may cart mostly when company is over and we want to take a nice long cruise. I do not want to do this all of the time; just on occasion.
1- What device prevents it from taking a charge while driven?
2- How do I disable it?
3- What are the potential hazards to the cart/batteries?

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!

I hope that you have a quiet generator or that won't be a very pleasurable cruise.

There is a reed switch in the charger port that disables the cart to keep it from being driven off with it plugged in. You can bypass that reed switch but not sure how the charger will behave if it is charging while you're driving it.

What the others said. A genny driving will probably be louder than a gas cart even of its a honda genny. If it's like my cage Briggs model it will sound awfull. And you just bypass the small red wire on charge port to positive

You won't really be charging the batteries while driving. For example, if you are putting 20 amps into the system and using 80 amps, you'll still be discharging the pack by 60 amps. I guess it could extend the range. I just don't see the reason. If that's what you want, get a gas cart.

When you say bypass the small red wire on the charge port do you mean disconnect the red wire? I disconnected it and it wont drive while charging.

If you have room for a gen. Why not just use 3 X 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries wired in series to get 36 volts then take the negative and positive wire and hook them up to the positive and negative of your 6X6 pack that would extend your range. Then when done undo them and charger them put them up to use with a investor if the light go out.

That makes more sense to me. Cause like was said your not really charging the batteries but just offsetting the discharge rate

I found a good pic of how to bypass the reed switch. To be honest the 3x12v battery option sounds really good. Thank you for ya'lls help.
